Our Mission Statement: First American Lutheran Church is a member-congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church is America. We come together to worship as friends, be reminded of God's grace and share it with others uplifting one another in prayer."
We, at First American, are a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Our worship services are each Sunday morning; worship times change at the first of the year and during the summer months. Please call the church office or note the sign in front of the church for the current worship time. We serve Holy Communion on the first and last Sundays of every month. We offer Sunday morning Sunday school classes for children 4 years through 8th grade. During the year Sunday School sings in church several times and participates in at least two mission projects. In December, we also present a Christmas program. Students 7th- 8th grade participate in the confirmation program. The group meets with the pastor every Wednesday after school for study during the school year. High school students are encouraged to be active in the Luther League, our youth group. They meet one Wednesday per month during the school year. The Luther League has a business meeting, devotional, and discussion during each meeting. Some of the Luther League's projects are: Soup and Sandwich Fundraiser, National Youth Gathering every three years, Christmas Eve Candlelight Service and other mission projects. Women of the ELCA meets monthly throughout the year. This Bible study group has various mission projects including: Lutheran World Relief quilt making and projects, visiting the Tripp Good Samaritan Center six times per year and various other global and local mission projects. Each monthly Bible study is found in the current issue of The Lutheran Woman Today. The five committees of the WELCA serve lunch at funerals, potlucks, and other activities. We have a men's choir; they sing many times throughout the church year. Since 1968, we have been a two-point parish with Hope Lutheran Church in Delmont, SD. The two congregations, separately and together an extension of Christ's ministry, share a minister but continue to direct our own programs respectively. We welcome visitors anytime. "Let us lift up our hearts in sincerity and openness to our Creator that we may be filled with love and light to share with the world."
